Trademarks and licensing coordinator
334 Mrak Hall
In Doug’s role as trademarks licensing coordinator, he protects and promotes UC Davis’ marks, names and logos.
Additionally, he facilitates and manages the licensing and use of those trademarks on high-quality merchandise.
Trademarks and licensing at UC Davis are important because many people come into contact with products bearing the name of the university. Doug’s job is to ensure that the products bearing the UC Davis name represent the quality that the university stands for.
Doug’s professional path to UC Davis began his senior year of college when he accepted an internship at an Internet/catalog bicycle company.
The internship turned into a full-time position as the assistant buyer.
While Doug enjoyed buying very much, he decided to accept a position as sales rep for a well-known mountaineering company. Being a sales rep taught him a tremendous amount, especially how much more he enjoys buying than selling products.
Doug soon returned to a buying position for an Internet base retailer, where he spent several years leading a team of buyers and merchandisers.
Seeking a new challenge, Doug joined UC Davis in December 2013. He holds a bachelor’s of arts in communication from Saint Mary’s College of California.
