Alysha grew up in the mountainous countryside outside of Portland, Oregon near the scenic Willamette Valley. Her love of visual storytelling began from a young age when a typical weekend activity involved exploring her natural surroundings, shooting photos with her mom’s old film camera.

After graduating from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Alysha started her professional career as a newspaper photographer on the Oregon Coast. She also spent a short time in Houston, Texas where she worked as a freelance photojournalist and video producer and enjoyed amazing barbecue and crawfish boils. She made her way back to the West Coast via Oregon and eventually landed in Northern California where she joined the UC Davis Strategic Communications Office as a multimedia specialist in 2019.

In her free time, she can often be found getting in a quick run or workout. And she finished her first marathon in 2019.
