Bio

Campus Life

Julia Ann supports communications on campus and in the media by telling stories at the heart of UC Davis.

She brings a reporter's experience and more than 35 years in higher education to communicating about student life,  graduate and undergraduate education, international programs, libraries and more.

As lead PIO for emergency preparedness, Julia Ann helps Strategic Communications be ready to fulfill its responsibilities during emergencies. She also has braved hurricanes and wildfires as a public affairs volunteer with the disaster services of the American Red Cross.

Before joining UC Davis in 1997, she revitalized media relations at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, and pioneered the function at what is now Vermont Law and Graduate School.

Raised in Canada, Julia Ann earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) and was a daily newspaper reporter with The Kitchener-Waterloo Record (now The Waterloo Region Record)  She completed a certificate in marketing through UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education.
